Private Pay or Insurance?

Health care coverage can be confusing so I want to be upfront with you about costs for mental health counseling.

Private Pay: $150 for a 50-60 minute session. $25 surcharge for evening appointments after 5 pm (Central Time) and Saturday appointments. Limited evening and Saturday appointments are available.

Insurance: Insurance varies by state. For all insurance clients, a medical diagnosis is required for insurance claims to be submitted. Some clients may prefer to use private pay.

Alabama residents: Blue Cross Blue Shield and AllKids. Approval may vary based on insurance plan.

Florida residents: Aetna, Oxford, Oscar Health, and United Healthcare. I will also check on your Florida Blue Cross Blue Shield plan, I may or may not be approved in-network to provide coverage. This approval can vary based on plan and by state.

For all clients, you may email to ask questions, schedule an appointment, or to set up a free phone consultation. You may also call directly, but I may be with another client so please be sure to leave your call back number so I can return your call at a later time.

How many sessions can you expect? This will vary by client and the reason you are seeking counseling. My approach is solution-oriented, so progress is typically made more quickly than traditional talk therapy. Many clients meet for 3 to 5 sessions and feel better. Other clients will want or need more sessions, often 10 to 12 sessions. There are also clients who want to address long-term issues which may require more than 12 sessions. Each client has unique needs so the number of sessions will vary.

All Clients

Prior to your first appointment, you will need to complete paperwork which includes consent forms and forms regarding telehealth, insurance coverage, financial responsibility, and credit card authorization. Photos of your state ID and insurance cards are required. These forms are required to be completed prior to your first appointment. The forms are completed by logging into a HIPAA compliant platform where you can read and complete the forms online. Once finished, you can download the completed forms. Sessions are scheduled only after all forms have been completed and insurance has been verified.

If there is time before your first appointment, you may also complete some of the basic intake forms online, or those can be completed during your first session. These will be provided to you after you have completed the consent forms.

Telehealth counseling sessions can only be provided to clients physically located in Alabama, Florida or in some international locations.
